Activate Global DEIB Programming Summer Climate Internship
Our team seeks to build out the programming and resources needed to support fellows individually and in their communities. In order for fellows to commercialize their technology to make meaningful impacts to mitigate climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we must ensure that individuals know where and how to seek resources or strengthen their skillset as it pertains to their leadership and capacity to socialize and grow into being entrepreneurs. This project will support fellow company leadership on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, which are fundamental to climate and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistance in building out DEIB programming for climate entrepreneurs
- Create DEIB content for early-stage science entrepreneurs to help them integrate topics into their work, including inclusive leadership, identity development, and inclusive team building.
- Research and identify industry best practices in programming to add to our curriculum.
- Research and recommend DEIB improvements to Activate’s current selection process
- Research DEIB practices of the intake process of programs similar to Activate, as well as Activate’s approach;
- Develop recommendations for how Activate can better support diverse applicants to apply, as well as how Activate can best support selection committees to embrace diverse applicants.
- Support development of playbook for real-time DEIB responsiveness
- Help design systems to ensure fellows can raise identity or inclusivity based concerns and have them answered in a timely manner.
- Draft guidelines for staff on best practices in responding to national, political, and personal events.
- Potential Additional Responsibilities
- As part of the Activate Fellowship team, the intern may have the opportunity to work on other priority projects according to their interest and program needs.
Qualifications
- Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough research to support special projects
- Use of tools: familiarity with and desire to grow skills in database management, and project management tools (AirTable, Hubspot, Asana, Miro)
- Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to collaborate with key project stakeholders
- Project Management: Can coordinate multiple tasks and projects, including prioritizing activities and meeting deadlines
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and impact in Activate’s DEIB climate tech ecosystem
- Initiative: Proactive approach to identifying opportunities and taking action to support Activate DEIB goals and objectives
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust and contribute to various projects according to need
- Teamwork & positive working style: Collaborative mindset to work effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team dynamic
